Lower glume ovate; 1 length of upper glume; membranous; without keels; 5 -veined (3), or 6 -veined (2), or 7 -veined (3), or 8 -veined (2), or 9 -veined (3). Lower glume lateral veins without ribs (4), or ribbed (1). Lower glume surface without pits; glabrous, or villous (1). Lower glume apex acute. Upper glume ovate; membranous; with undifferentiated margins (4), or hyaline margins (1); without keels; 5 -veined (2), or 7 -veined (3), or 8–9 -veined (1). Upper glume surface glabrous (4), or pilose (1). Upper glume apex acute (4), or acuminate (1).

FLORETS Basal sterile florets male (1), or barren (4); with palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret ovate; membranous; 5 -veined (3), or 6 -veined (2), or 7 -veined (4); acute.
