Culm-nodes swollen (1/1); with distinct supra-nodal ridge (5/5). Lateral branches suffrutescent. Branch complement two (1/6), or three (6/6), or several (4/6); with subequal branches (1/1); thinner than stem (1/1). Culm-sheaths deciduous (5/5); without auricles. Culm-sheath blade inconspicuous (3/6), or linear (3/6). Leaves differentiated into sheath and blade (4), or with sheath almost obsolete (3). Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate (6), or elliptic (3), or ovate (3). Leaf-blade venation with distinct cross veins.
INFLORESCENCE Synflorescence bractiferous (2/2); fasciculate (2/2); with glumaceous subtending bracts (1/2), or spathaceous subtending bracts (1/2); without axillary buds at base of spikelet (1/2), or with axillary buds at base of spikelet (1/2).
Fertile spikelets sessile (2/2).
FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets (1/2), or 2 fertile florets (2/2); with a barren rhachilla extension (1/2), or with diminished florets at the apex (1/2). Spikelets linear (1/2), or lanceolate (1/2); laterally compressed (2/2); 15–17–20 mm long; breaking up at maturity (2/2); disarticulating below each fertile floret (2/2). Rhachilla internodes definite (2/2).
GLUMES Glumes two (1/2), or several (1/2); persistent (1/1); shorter than spikelet (1/1). Lower glume ovate (1/1); 0.7–0.75–0.8 length of upper glume; chartaceous (1/1); without keels (1/1); 7–9 -veined (1/1). Lower glume surface without pits (2/2). Lower glume apex acute (1/1). Upper glume ovate (1/1); 0.7–0.75–0.8 length of adjacent fertile lemma; chartaceous (1/1); without keels (1/1); 7–9 -veined (1/1). Upper glume apex acute (1/1).
FLORETS Fertile lemma lanceolate (1/2), or oblong (1/2); chartaceous (2/2); without keel (2/2); wingless (2/2); 9–10 -veined (1/2), or 11 -veined (2/2). Lemma surface unwrinkled (2/2); without grooves (2/2). Lemma apex acute (2/2). Palea 0.7–0.875–1 length of lemma.
