INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle.
Panicle spiciform.
Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels oblong; tip discoid (1/1).
FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets; 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets linear (1), or lanceolate (1), or elliptic (1), or oblong (1); dorsally compressed; 3.9–5.8–8 mm long; falling entire. Spikelet callus pubescent (2), or pilose (1). Rhachilla internodes elongated between glumes.
GLUMES Glumes exceeding apex of florets; thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume lanceolate (1), or oblong (2), or ovate (1); cartilaginous (2), or coriaceous (1); without keels; 3–5 -veined (1), or 7 -veined (2), or 8–9 -veined (1). Lower glume lateral veins without ribs (2), or ribbed (1). Lower glume surface with a longitudinal median groove; fenestrate; glabrous (2), or pubescent (2), or pilose (1); with a dorsal tuft of hair. Lower glume apex truncate (1), or obtuse. Upper glume lanceolate (2), or elliptic (1), or oblong (1); chartaceous (1), or cartilaginous (1), or coriaceous (2); with undifferentiated margins (2), or membranous margins (1); without keels; 5–6 -veined (1), or 7 -veined (2), or 8 -veined (1), or 9 -veined (2). Upper glume lateral veins without ribs (2), or ribbed (1). Upper glume surface smooth (2), or tuberculate (1); glabrous (2), or pubescent (2), or pilose (1). Upper glume apex entire, or dentate (1); 3 -fid (1/1); truncate (1), or obtuse, or acute (1).
FLORETS Basal sterile florets barren; without significant palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret lanceolate (2), or elliptic (1), or ovate (1); membranous (1), or chartaceous (2), or herbaceous (1); 5 -veined; obtuse (2), or cuspidate (1). Fertile lemma lanceolate (2), or elliptic (1), or ovate (1); membranous (2), or chartaceous (1); without keel; wingless; 3 -veined (1/1). Lemma surface unwrinkled; without grooves. Lemma apex obtuse (2), or cuspidate (1). Palea 2 -veined.
