FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 2 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension (1), or with a barren rhachilla extension (4). Spikelets ovate (2), or cuneate (3); laterally compressed; 2.5–4.138–5.5 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret (3), or above glumes but not between florets (2). Rhachilla internodes definite. Floret callus pilose.

GLUMES Glumes persistent; shorter than spikelet; parallel to lemmas (2), or gaping (3). Lower glume lanceolate (1), or oblong (2), or ovate (2); 0.7–0.85–1 length of upper glume; membranous; 1-keeled; 1 -veined (4), or 2 -veined (1), or 3 -veined (2), or 4–5 -veined (1). Lower glume lateral veins absent (3), or distinct (2). Lower glume surface without pits. Lower glume apex acute, or acuminate (2). Upper glume lanceolate (1), or oblong (1), or ovate (3); 0.4–0.645–0.8 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous; 1-keeled; 1 -veined (4), or 2 -veined (1), or 3 -veined (2), or 4–5 -veined (1). Upper glume apex acute, or acuminate (2).

FLORETS Fertile lemma elliptic (1), or oblong (4); membranous; keeled; wingless; 5 -veined (2), or 7 -veined (3), or 8–9 -veined (2), or 10–11 -veined (1). Lemma midvein without distinctive roughness (2), or scabrous (3). Lemma lateral veins without ribs (2), or ribbed (3). Lemma surface unwrinkled; without grooves; pilose (3), or villous (2); with simple hairs (2), or tubercle-based hairs (3). Lemma apex obtuse (1), or acute (1), or acuminate (3). Palea keels eciliate (3), or ciliate (2). Palea surface glabrous (2), or pilose (3).
