Spikelets in threes. Fertile spikelets pedicelled; 3 in the cluster; subequal. Pedicels fused to each other.

FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets; 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; laterally compressed; 10–16.39–28 mm long; falling entire; deciduous in a cluster with fused pedicels. Floret callus evident; pilose (1/2), or bearded (1/2).

GLUMES Glumes shorter than spikelet (1), or reaching apex of florets (2), or exceeding apex of florets (2). Lower glume lanceolate; 0.7–0.8833–1 length of upper glume; coriaceous; without keels; 3 -veined, or 4–5 -veined (1). Lower glume surface without pits; hispid. Lower glume apex acuminate (2), or setaceously attenuate (1). Upper glume lanceolate; chartaceous; without keels; 3 -veined, or 4–5 -veined (1). Upper glume surface glabrous, or pubescent (1). Upper glume apex acuminate (2), or setaceously attenuate (1).

FLORETS Basal sterile florets male; with palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret lanceolate; chartaceous; 5 -veined, or 6–7 -veined (2), or 8–9 -veined (1); acute (2), or acuminate (1). Fertile lemma oblong; coriaceous; without keel; wingless; 7–8 -veined (2), or 9 -veined. Lemma surface unwrinkled; without grooves; glabrous (2), or pubescent (1), or pilose (1); without hair tufts (1), or with a transverse row of hair tufts (2). Lemma margins eciliate, or ciliate (1). Lemma apex lobed; 2 -fid; incised 0.15–0.1667–0.2 of lemma length; acuminate (2/2), or attenuate (1/2), or setaceously attenuate (1/2); awned; 1 -awned (2), or 3 -awned (1). Principal lemma awn from a sinus; geniculate. Lateral lemma awns shorter than principal (1/1). Palea 2 -veined. Palea keels unthickened (1), or thickened (2); wingless (1), or winged (2). Palea surface glabrous (1), or pubescent (2).
