INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle; exserted (2), or embraced at base by subtending leaf (1).

Panicle open.

Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels tip widened (2/2).

FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets oblong; laterally compressed; 3–6.5–10 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus glabrous.

GLUMES Glumes persistent; reaching apex of florets (1), or exceeding apex of florets (2). Lower glume lanceolate; 0.66–0.8933–1 length of upper glume; membranous; 1-keeled; 1 -veined, or 3 -veined (2). Lower glume lateral veins absent, or distinct (2). Lower glume surface without pits. Lower glume apex acute (2), or acuminate (1). Upper glume lanceolate; 1–1.166–1.3 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous; with undifferentiated margins (1), or hyaline margins (2); 1-keeled; 1 -veined, or 3 -veined (2). Upper glume apex acute (2), or acuminate (1).

FLORETS Fertile lemma ovate; membranous; much thinner above; keeled; wingless; 5 -veined. Lemma midvein scaberulous. Lemma lateral veins obscure. Lemma surface smooth (1), or papillose (2); unwrinkled; without grooves. Lemma apex entire, or dentate (2); 3 -fid (2/2); acute; mucronate (1), or awned (2); 1 -awned (2/2). Principal lemma awn apical, or from a sinus (2); straight, or curved (1), or flexuous (1). Palea 0.9–0.9667–1 length of lemma. Palea keels smooth (1), or scaberulous (1), or scabrous (1).
