INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle.
Panicle open, or contracted; lanceolate, or oblong, or pyramidal; dense; 2–9 cm long. Primary panicle branches spreading; 2–5 -nate. Panicle branches stiff.
Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.
FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; with a barren rhachilla extension. Spikelets elliptic; laterally compressed; 1.7–2 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus pilose. Floret callus hairs 0.2 length of lemma.
GLUMES Glumes persistent; similar; shorter than spikelet; thinner than fertile lemma; gaping. Lower glume ovate; 0.8–1.2 mm long; 1 length of upper glume; membranous; 1-keeled; 1 -veined. Lower glume primary vein scaberulous. Lower glume lateral veins absent. Lower glume apex obtuse. Upper glume ovate; 0.8–1.2 mm long; 0.5–0.7 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous; 1-keeled; 1 -veined. Upper glume primary vein scaberulous. Upper glume lateral veins absent. Upper glume apex obtuse.
FLORETS Fertile lemma ovate; 1.7–2 mm long; cartilaginous; keeled; 3–5 -veined. Lemma lateral veins ribbed. Lemma apex emarginate; awned; 1 -awned. Principal lemma awn subapical; straight; 0.5 mm long overall. Palea 1 length of lemma. Rhachilla extension 0.33–0.5 length of fertile floret; glabrous, or pubescent.
