Sasaella caudiceps

HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms erect; 100–200 cm long; woody. Culm-internodes terete; hollow; distally pubescent. Culm-nodes pubescent. Lateral branches suffrutescent. Branch complement two; as thick as stem. Culm-sheaths persistent; pilose. Leaf-sheaths puberulous. Leaf-sheath oral hairs ciliate; spreading. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate, or oblong; 12–17 cm long; 25–31 mm wide; chartaceous. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.

INFLORESCENCE Flowering specimens unknown.

DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: eastern Asia.
