Bambusa pierreana
HABIT Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms erect; 1200 cm long; woody. Culm-internodes terete. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement one, or two. Culm-sheaths deciduous; hispid; with black hairs; auriculate; setose on shoulders; shoulders with 8 mm long hairs. Culm-sheath ligule 1 mm high; entire. Culm-sheath blade triangular; erect. Leaves cauline. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface. Leaf-sheath oral hairs lacking, or ciliate. Leaf-sheath auricles erect. Ligule a ciliolate membrane; obtuse. Collar with external ligule. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate; 29 cm long; 28 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 10–16 secondary veins. Leaf-blade surface pubescent; hairy abaxially. Leaf-blade margins scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
INFLORESCENCE Flowering specimens unknown.
DISTRIBUTION Asia-tropical: Indo-China.
