Bambusa rongchengensis
HABIT Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms erect; inclined at the tip; 1400–1700 cm long; 60–120 mm diam.; woody; 40–70 -noded; with aerial roots from the nodes. Culm-internodes terete; with small lumen; 28–30 cm long; estriate; smooth; distally mealy. Culm-nodes flush with internodes. Lateral branches dendroid. Bud complement 1. Branch complement several; with 1 branch dominant. Culm-sheaths deciduous; 26–46 cm long; 0.6–0.9 times as long as wide; coriaceous; yellow and purple; concolorous, or obscurely mottled with last colour; glabrous, or hispid; with appressed hairs; with tawny hairs; glabrous on margins; auriculate; ciliate on shoulders. Culm-sheath ligule 5–10 mm high; fimbriate. Culm-sheath blade ovate; erect, or reflexed; 6–12 cm long; 57–80 mm wide. Leaves 4–11 per branch. Leaf-sheaths 4.5–8.5 cm long; pubescent; outer margin glabrous. Leaf-sheath oral hairs scanty, or lacking. Leaf-sheath auricles absent. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 0.2–0.5 mm long; truncate. Leaf-blade base cuneate; with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath; petiole 0.1–0.2 cm long; petiole glabrous. Leaf-blades oblong; 8–17 cm long; 19–31 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 10–22 secondary veins; without cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous, or pubescent; hairy abaxially. Leaf-blade margins scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
