Chimonobambusa pubescens

HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms erect; 200 cm long; 8 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; solid; 8–14 cm long; distally glabrous, or pubescent. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement three; in a horizontal line. Culm-sheaths persistent; glabrous; hairy on margins; without auricles. Culm-sheath ligule 0.2 mm high. Culm-sheath blade inconspicuous. Leaves cauline; 3 per branch. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface; outer margin hairy. Leaf-sheath oral hairs setose; pale. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Collar with external ligule. Leaf-blade base cuneate; with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate; 9–12 cm long; 7–9 mm wide; chartaceous. Leaf-blade venation with 10 secondary veins; with distinct cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade margins scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.

DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: China.
