Limnas malyschevii
HABIT Perennial; caespitose; clumped densely. Rhizomes short. Culms erect; 20–30 cm long. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blades convolute; 10–15 cm long; 0.5–0.7 mm wide.
INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle. Peduncle scaberulous above.
Panicle open; linear; loose; 1.5–3 cm long; 0.5–0.7 cm wide; bearing few spikelets. Panicle branches scabrous.
Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.
FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets oblong; laterally compressed; 2.7–3.2 mm long; falling entire.
GLUMES Glumes similar; reaching apex of florets; firmer than fertile lemma. Lower glume lanceolate; 2.7–33.2 mm long; 1 length of upper glume; chartaceous; purple; 1-keeled; 3 -veined. Lower glume primary vein scaberulous. Lower glume surface asperulous. Lower glume apex acute. Upper glume lanceolate; 2.7–3.2 mm long; 1 length of adjacent fertile lemma; chartaceous; purple; 1-keeled; 3 -veined. Upper glume primary vein scaberulous. Upper glume surface asperulous. Upper glume apex acute.
FLORETS Fertile lemma ovate; 2.7–3.2 mm long; membranous; shiny; keeled; 5 -veined. Lemma lateral veins obscure. Lemma apex acute; awned; 1 -awned. Principal lemma awn dorsal; geniculate; 6–7 mm long overall.
FLOWER Anthers 2; 1.9–2 mm long.
DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: Siberia.
