Sasa minensis
HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms erect; 80–120 cm long; 3–5 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; hollow; distally glabrous. Culm-nodes swollen; pubescent. Lateral branches sparse. Bud complement 1. Branch complement one; solitary; as thick as stem. Culm-sheaths persistent; 0.66 length of internode; pilose; without auricles. Culm-sheath blade ovate, or triangular; deciduous; 0.4–3 cm long; attenuate. Leaves 4–7 per branch. Leaf-sheath oral hairs scanty, or lacking; deciduous. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 1–2 mm long; pubescent on abaxial surface; entire; truncate. Leaf-blade base broadly rounded; with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath; petiole 0.3–0.7 cm long; petiole glabrous, or pubescent. Leaf-blades lanceolate, or oblong; 20–25 cm long; 50–70 mm wide; glaucous; variegated (white margins in winter). Leaf-blade surface pubescent; hairy abaxially. Leaf-blade margins ciliate. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
INFLORESCENCE Flowering specimens unknown.
DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: eastern Asia.
