Shibataea nanpingensis

HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms erect; 100–170 cm long; 4–5 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; hollow; 25–300 cm long. Lateral branches suffrutescent. Branch complement three. Culm-sheaths deciduous; chartaceous; green; pubescent; with white hairs; without auricles; glabrous on shoulders. Culm-sheath ligule 1.5–4 mm high. Culm-sheath blade linear; 0.3–0.6 cm long. Leaves cauline; 1 per branch; with sheath almost obsolete. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate, or elliptic; 17–20 cm long; 15–30 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 14–18 secondary veins; with distinct cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade margins scabrous.
