Shibataea strigosa
HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms erect; 50 cm long; 3 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes semiterete; mid-green; distally glabrous. Culm-nodes with distinct supra-nodal ridge. Lateral branches suffrutescent. Branch complement three. Culm-sheaths chartaceous; green; pilose; hairy above; with tawny hairs; glabrous on margins; truncate at apex; without auricles; glabrous on shoulders. Culm-sheath ligule ciliate. Culm-sheath blade linear; erect. Leaves cauline; 1 per branch. Leaf-sheath oral hairs lacking. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blade base broadly rounded; asymmetrical; with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath; petiole 0.3–0.4 cm long. Leaf-blades elliptic, or ovate; 5–7 cm long; 15–20 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 12–14 secondary veins; with distinct cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.

DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: China.
