Fargesia emaculata

HABIT Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes short (neck 7–14cm); pachymorph. Culms 250–350 cm long; 8–12 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; hollow; 18–25 cm long; distally mealy. Culm-nodes without obvious supra-nodal ridge, or with distinct supra-nodal ridge. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement several; in a horizontal line. Culm-sheaths persistent; coriaceous; hispid; with dark brown hairs; hairy on margins; without auricles; glabrous on shoulders, or setose on shoulders; shoulders with 3–4 mm long hairs. Culm-sheath ligule 1 mm high; ciliolate. Culm-sheath blade linear, or lanceolate; erect, or reflexed. Leaves 3–4 per branch. Leaf-sheaths outer margin glabrous. Leaf-sheath oral hairs lacking. Leaf-sheath auricles absent. Ligule an eciliate membrane; truncate, or obtuse. Leaf-blade base cuneate; with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate; 1.5–7 cm long; 3–7.5 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 4–6 secondary veins; with obscure cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade margins scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
