Dichelachne sieberiana
HABIT Perennial; caespitose. Culms erect; 30–90 cm long. Lateral branches lacking. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 1–1.5 mm long. Leaf-blades 3–29 cm long; 1–1.5(–3.5) mm wide.
INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle.
Panicle open; lanceolate; 4.5–14.5 cm long; 1–2.5 cm wide.
Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.
FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; with a barren rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; laterally compressed; 5–6 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus evident; 1–1.3 mm long; pilose. Floret callus hairs 1–1.5 mm long.
GLUMES Glumes persistent; similar; reaching apex of florets; thinner than fertile lemma; gaping. Lower glume lanceolate; 4–5 mm long; 0.9 length of upper glume; membranous; 1-keeled; keeled above; 1 -veined. Lower glume lateral veins absent. Lower glume apex acute, or acuminate. Upper glume lanceolate; 4.5–6 mm long; 1 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous; 1-keeled; keeled above; 1 -veined. Upper glume lateral veins absent. Upper glume apex setaceously attenuate.
FLORETS Fertile lemma lanceolate; 4–6 mm long; cartilaginous; keeled; lightly keeled; 5 -veined. Lemma margins involute. Lemma apex obtuse; awned; 1 -awned. Principal lemma awn subapical; bigeniculate; (9–)17–23 mm long overall; with twisted column. Palea 3.5–5.5 mm long.
FLOWER Anthers 3; 2.4–3 mm long.
FRUIT Caryopsis with adherent pericarp; 2.8–3.8 mm long.
