Fargesia yajiangensis

HABIT Perennial; caespitose. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms erect; 200–250 cm long; 5–15 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; with small lumen; 5–22 cm long; distally mealy. Culm-nodes swollen. Lateral branches dendroid; ascending. Bud complement 1. Branch complement many. Culm-sheaths coriaceous; pilose; with appressed hairs; with tawny hairs; without auricles; ciliate on shoulders; shoulders with 2–5 mm long hairs. Culm-sheath ligule 1 mm high. Culm-sheath blade linear; erect, or reflexed; 0.7–7.5 cm long; 3–5.5 mm wide; glabrous on surface. Leaves 2–3 per branch. Leaf-sheaths 3–3.5 cm long; glabrous on surface. Leaf-sheath oral hairs lacking. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 0.5 mm long. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath; petiole 0.1 cm long. Leaf-blades linear, or lanceolate; 3–6 cm long; 4–5.5 mm wide; chartaceous. Leaf-blade venation with 4–6 secondary veins; with distinct cross veins. Leaf-blade margins scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.

INFLORESCENCE Flowering specimens unknown.

DISTRIBUTION Asia-temperate: China.
