Eragrostis dyskritos
HABIT Annual; caespitose. Basal innovations intravaginal. Culms erect; 35–55 cm long. Leaf-sheath oral hairs ciliate. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Collar pilose. Leaf-blades 9–13 cm long; 1–2 mm wide.
INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle.
Panicle open; oblong; 20–23 cm long; 5–7 cm wide. Primary panicle branches appressed, or ascending; 1–5 -nate; 5–8 cm long. Panicle branches scaberulous; bearded in axils.
Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels 6–13 mm long.
FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 4–14 fertile florets; with diminished florets at the apex. Spikelets linear, or oblong; laterally compressed; 4–5 mm long; 1–1.5 mm wide; breaking up at maturity; rhachilla persistent; shedding paleas. Rhachilla internodes obscured by lemmas, or eventually visible between lemmas.
GLUMES Glumes deciduous; similar; shorter than spikelet. Lower glume ovate; 0.5–0.6 mm long; 0.5 length of upper glume; hyaline; without keels; 0 -veined. Lower glume lateral veins absent. Lower glume apex acute. Upper glume ovate; 1.1–1.2 mm long; 0.6 length of adjacent fertile lemma; hyaline; 0(–1) -veined. Upper glume lateral veins absent. Upper glume apex acute.
FLORETS Fertile lemma ovate; 1.7–2 mm long; membranous; keeled; 3 -veined. Lemma apex acute. Palea keels scaberulous. Apical sterile florets resembling fertile though underdeveloped.
FLOWER Anthers 3; 0.2 mm long.
FRUIT Caryopsis with adherent pericarp; ellipsoid; laterally compressed; without sulcus; 0.7–0.8 mm long; dark brown.
DISTRIBUTION Asia-tropical: Malesia.
