Chusquea enigmatica
HABIT Perennial. Rhizomes elongated; leptomorph. Culms geniculately ascending; 20–100 cm long; 0.5–1.5 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; solid; 1–3.5 cm long. Culm-nodes with distinct supra-nodal ridge. Lateral branches dendroid; extravaginal, or infravaginal. Bud complement 1–3. Branch complement one, or two, or three; in a horizontal line. Culm-sheaths deciduous; 1.8–3.9 cm long; glabrous on margins, or hairy on margins. Culm-sheath ligule 0.2–0.5 mm high. Culm-sheath blade triangular; deciduous; erect; 3.9 cm long; acuminate. Leaves (5–)6–9(–11) per branch. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface. Leaf-sheath oral hairs ciliate. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2–3 mm long. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath; petiole 0.1–0.15 cm long; petiole glabrous. Leaf-blades elliptic; 10–11.7 cm long; 8–12 mm wide; mid-green and glaucous; discolorous with last colour beneath. Leaf-blade venation without cross veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous. Leaf-blade margins scaberulous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
