Catabrosa kneuckeri
HABIT Perennial. Culms prostrate; 15–30 cm long. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blades 2–5 mm wide.
INFLORESCENCE Inflorescence a panicle.
Panicle open; oblong, or ovate; effuse; 5–12 cm long.
Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.
FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1(–2) fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets ovate; laterally compressed; 2.3–2.7 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret.
GLUMES Glumes persistent; similar; shorter than spikelet. Lower glume elliptic, or ovate; 1–1.3 mm long; 0.5 length of upper glume; membranous; without keels. Upper glume ovate; 1.5–2 mm long; 0.66 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous; without keels.
FLORETS Fertile lemma oblong; 2 mm long; membranous; without keel; 3 -veined.
DISTRIBUTION Europe: central.
